A greener state

The Attorney General has shifted his focus away from violent crime. His new crusade? The environment.
Now, I’m not saying pollution in the Bay and the skies don’t deserve attention. They do — pollution is a legitimate problem in Maryland. However, Gansler may be overstepping his bounds.
Maryland already has a Department of the Environment, who are well-equipped to deal with environmental problems. With the crime problem in our area, should the Attorney General be spending his time spearheading town-hall meetings to find polluters?
As quoted in today’s Sun, Gansler said, “The environment is my priority.” However, his biography on the state’s website highlights his extensive criminal experience, and that’s probably what voters were looking for back in 2006 when they elected him. Have things changed in the meantime, or should Gansler take a step back and refocus on our fundamental problems?
Hmmm… I wonder what kind of vehicle Gansler drives.

So what ARE you saying?

Well, as I said in the following paragraphs, the pollution problem should be addressed by the Department of the Environment, because that is why they exist. Gansler's attention should be on what he does best (and was elected to do): putting violent criminals in jail.

So the Attorney General should, if I'm reading you correctly, only be concerned with prosecuting violent crimes.
The prosecution of non-violent crimes should be the domain of, again if I understand what you are saying, The Department of the Environment?

hmmmm......are you familiar with what the Attorney General does???? Did you realize that the Environmental Crimes Division is located within the AG's office and always has been? Also, you do realize that the State's Attorneys are responsible for prosecuting violent crimes?
