Bmore gets more national love

Rolling Stone reported last week that Baltimore has the best scene. Now, Blender is chiming in, too, with its take on Bmore. Master of performance media Dan Deacon, hip-hop mastermind Blaqstarr and Geologist, from Animal Collective, offered their picks for touring the city:

  • Paradox, 1310 Russell St., for best late-night dance party
  • The True Vine, 1123 W. 36th St., for best store to patronize when you want to actually pay for CDs
  • Floristree, 405 W. Franklin St., for best venue to see white kids spazz out
  • Faidley Seafood in Lexington Market for best crab cake
  • Baltimorecrime.blogspot.com for best resource to plan your trip

The best tip comes from Blaqstarr, on Faidley’s: “Ask for the house cocktail sauce. I keep it on the side to dip and kill it from there.” Duly noted.

  1. With Blaqstarr and Floristree highlighted, does anyone know where to go for a more integrated crowd?

    YEAH CLUB CHOICES

  3. I love that "The Wire" is the opinion that 90% of America has about Baltimore. I bet in all reality its even worse than HBO has depicted it.

  4. The Wire set the stage for a lot. I was in London last month and a "chap" asked me "Is Baltimore really as bad as the Wire makes it out to be?" I responded, "Yea, everything you see happens on a near daily basis, but there's much more to the city. We have an east side too!"
It would be great to get the chance to make a fuller exploratioj of our city. Get in on it, Hon!
