Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day

This Sunday, April 27th, is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day. It’s an international event encouraging photographers/artists from around the world to photograph with pinhole cameras, in case you didn’t figure that out by the title. I personally have two functioning pinhole cameras, one 4×5 with a polaroid back and an old medium format camera that I converted into a pinhole, and I hope to make images with both of them on Sunday. If you don’t have one, it’s not too late to make one from an oatmeal can or anything else for that matter. Visit pinholeday.org for more information about the event, how to make your own pinhole and further instructions on how to participate. For those of you from in and around Baltimore, feel free to upload your pinhole images to our photo section as well. If you’d like to see the photograph in print, email a high res. version of the image with a brief description, your name, age and town to heard@bthesite.com

Thanks and happy shooting.

  1. Pinhole photography is the art in it's purist form. Sometimes I think I get too wrapped up in the technology and need to get back to the basics of just light and film. Thanks for reminding me once again about how it all got started.

  2. Oh I like these theme holidays. Hope you guys mention others at least a few days a week. I remember doing pinhole photography in collage. It can make weird and interesting things!
