Woodchuck312 and Evan: You hit the key points right on the head. Thank you! A conversation is what the participants make of it; if you put crap in, you get crap out. This is a blog that is suppose to touch on a lot of things, high and low brow. If you spend all your time trashing it for the quality while not offering anything except whining and complaining, why waste time on it? If it bothers you so much, why are you in it? Most people I know quickly get tired of conversations like that. If you want quality, create quality, don't just bitch about everything being crap.

The point (I thought) of this blog wasn't to be an academic white paper on daily news nor was it supposed to always be wallowing in vulgarity. Review and commentary on the Preakness infield is a yearly ritual, not unlike the race itself. Yes, the subject matter of the video isn't elegant or possessed of complexity, but that doesn't exclude the possibility of an interesting discussion of the content. I thought the video and some of the comments posted raised some other interesting points to ponder, such as:

1) WTF is wrong with some people?
2) It came out as 'yick-see-tor' the first time I saw it. A bizarre form of transportation? Weird superhero? Grilled animal protein on a stick?
3) A sense of wonder at the sheer bloody-mindedness of humans.
4) "I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused"
5) Is being coated in other peoples' filth while heavily intoxicated really that much fun?
6) These folks do not appear to be true racing fans any more than 'lager louts' are true soccer fans.
7) $50 - $60 bucks per knucklehead for THAT? Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick, I am in the wrong line of work!
8) There is no end to the amusement to be had or the MONEY to be made from the inane (if somewhat gross) behavior of others.

They are cleaning up, for sure, in many, MANY, ways. It's a dirty job, and someone else can do it. Blechh...

Actually I just figured it out. I was thinking of a horrible, awful electronic noise-core group by the name of EQ8TR (pronounced 'eck-eight-or') that a friend of mine forced me to see at some VFW hall in high school. DAMN that was an obscure memory.

---contribution---
Yes this video is retarded, yes the infield at Preakness has been a hotbed for the rabble of the entire state of MD for well over four generations (but at $40 a ticket X40,000 heads? Yeah let's just shut it down, sure). Granted, canned beer is a relatively recent invention for throwing and the fighting, public defecation, fornication and mulletude is absolutely nothing new by any stretch of the imagination. BUT for some like Brian who went there for the first time it maybe came as a shock, so why wouldn't you want to comment on it?

Getting all internet ragey because it has been posted on a frigging blog (granted, a commercial one which many of you seem to think should for some reason be on par with Reuters) is a bit silly. Geez calm down.
