Another liquor license lost

The owner of Sky Lounge/Tango Tapas has agreed to sell his liquor license if his neighbors will withdraw their complaints to the liquor board.
During yesterday’s hearing, some Federal Hill residents protested the renewal of Sky Lounge’s liquor license. Their main complaint was one of zoning. The establishment has a restaurant license, which doesn’t support the club atmosphere of Sky Lounge that begins after Tango Tapas closes its kitchen at 10:30 p.m. Federal Hill is maxed out on bar licenses.
The owner has agreed to transfer his license to someone else if the residents withdraw their complaints about the license’s renewal. The liquor board agreed to the arrangement. In the meantime, the restaurant will remain open, but it seems that the late-night activity upstairs at Sky Lounge will be on hiatus.
Said the residents’ legal counsel: “[I]t’s not that the residents of Federal Hill are anti-bar or anti-dancing. Our main concern is that this is a restaurant license.”
I imagine that this is not the only bar/club operating in Baltimore under a restaurant license, but most probably keep their kitchens open later than 10:30 p.m. Any thoughts on the situation?

they should transfer the license to The Bicycle. i'm told they'd like to move to the old movie rental space on charles st., but because fed hill is 'maxed out' on liq. licenses, they can't move in. apparently there is a problem moving from their present location and bringing their liq. license with them. it would be great to have them in the 'hood.

Lori--
My thoughts are that you've chosen the wrong title to your post. The liquor license is not lost; it will be transferred to a new owner, almost definitely at the same location. You seem to have a habit of making broad, inaccurate statements when posting about liquor licensing issues.

Lori has a habit of posting misinformation AND attaching her (usually) lame-ass opinion to said misinformation.
I know B is supposed to be "super cool" and directed to "totally awesome youth culture" - but it would REALLY increase the value of your paper if you hired staff that were able to (at least) rub two brain cells together.
Usually I enjoy ripping on you guys - but actually the blogs are getting so lame that it's not even that interesting to laugh at anymore.
Step it up. Shell out some real money for decent talent. Do whatever it is you need to do. This ship is sinking fast.
