Of course, instead of a fuel-efficient vehicle, mass transit or even a bike, there’s apparently this alternative:

What a great idea! Why didn't I think of this?!
That's not corrupting. He's offering a tank of gas. That's pretty cool. When you think of it, depending on what she drives, that could be a moderate barter. So, uh...what will a tank of gas get me? That's Adam Smith in action! And he's self-employed to boot. What a country!

And I'm SURE that was not the most corrupting CL add you came across. What were you researching anyway?

You're right. There are far, far more corrupting ads on CL.
It was "researching" only if you define "research" as randomly surfing for entertainment after burning through the Sunday Times, Slate and the scourge that is icanhascheezburger. You can start with Missed Connections and go up- or downhill from there. Sometimes (as with Savage Love) I even learn something.

Sounds like you learned the price of a piece of ass in the 2008. But yeah, it's a little depressing if you overthink it. But I don't see the problem with a straight exchange of goods/services. As long as neither party is forced to participate I say go for it.
