Life imitating Weeds

This little blurb is something I would ordinarily pass over, except that it made me think of the television show Weeds — so I’m sharing.
Some Columbia residents are upset because an interfaith center wants to add a 16-foot cross to the building’s exterior. (The size has been scaled down since the original plans, which called for a 27-foot cross.) Residents believe the cross may be offensive to some residents, because it does not coincide with Columbia’s “harmonious and inclusive character.”
Will life imitate art? In Weeds, Doug Wilson (played by Kevin Nealon) steals an 18-foot illuminated cross from the exterior of the Majestic church, as retribution for a lost City Council position and revoked golf membership. He then installs the cross as a giant grow-light, which I doubt will be mirrored in the Columbia version of this story, but stranger things have happened.
And in my quest for a video, I discovered that Season 4 begins on June 16th. Looks like I’ll have to resubscribe to Showtime soon.

If the cross is on a church, and on the church's property who cares? Not as if its going up on public property, ie center of town or something. People really are so ridiculous, so many more important things to be concerned with.
But on another note, glad to hear Weeds is returning soon!
