McCain’s crystal ball

We’ve focused a bit of attention on the Democratic primaries here lately, so in an effort to be bipartisan, let’s talk about John McCain.
In Columbus, Ohio today, McCain shared his vision of the future of America — under his leadership, that is. What is McCain’s America like? Well, by 2013 (January, to be specific), we have won the war in Iraq and all our troops have returned home. Osama bin Laden is either dead or in our captivity. And we have the option of paying a flat tax rather than filing a 1040 every April. Sounds lovely, doesn’t it?
When reporters asked him about his timetable for Iraq — something for which he has criticized the Democratic candidates — McCain responded:
“It’s not a timetable; it’s victory. It’s victory, which I have always predicted. I didn’t know when we were going to win World War II; I just knew we were going to win.”
McCain took the reporters’ questions while riding on his “Straight Talk Express” campaign bus. His future plans also include weekly presidential news conferences (52 State of the Union addresses?) and regular Congressional question-and-answer meetings in the style of British Parliament.
McCain’s speech also alluded to his intent to seek a second term if elected. If that were to happen, McCain would be 79 years old at the end of his time in the White House.
In response to today’s remarks, Howard Dean said: “The reality behind Senator McCain’s new rhetoric is that his plans either ignore the problems he identifies or actually makes them worse.”
So, let’s hear it. What are your thoughts on the Republican contender?

A pathetic doddering old fool. He'll be lucky to get 45% of the vote this Fall.

This is all you REALLY need to know about MCain to know that he's FAR too out of touch with modern society to be our president.
Excerpt taken from: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/03/16/mccain-stumbles-on-hiv-prevention/
Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”
Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “You’ve stumped me.”
Riiiiight. He's the perfect person to lead our country.
