New retail developments for Baltimore City

Residents of Locust Point will soon be seeing some new storefronts along Key Highway.

The McHenry Row project is underway, with plans for 250 residential units, 50,000 square feet of office space, and 110,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Long rumored but now official: Harris Teeter, a high-end grocer, will be anchoring the shops with a 60,000 square foot store set to open in 2010. The lease is signed.

Harris Teeter is considering an additional location at the Canton Crossing development, although nothing is official. Canton Crossing will eventually include “main-street” shopping, along the lines of the Avenue at White Marsh and the Hunt Valley Town Center. Target is rumored to be a part of that development

An overhaul of Mondawmin Mall is also in the works, with the city’s first Target store scheduled to open sometime this summer.

Considering the price of food these days, I’m not sure how exciting a gourmet grocer is to many of us. However, I welcome the Target stores with open arms. Any stores you’d like to see included in (or excluded from) these new developments?
