O’Malley featured in Playboy

By now, it may be obvious that I like rankings. Not because I necessarily believe them — usually they result from the most unscientific of surveys — but because they’re often completely arbitrary and amusing. Thanks to the Sun for finding another example of this.

Our own Gov. O’Malley was ranked as the fifth most “do-able” governor in June’s issue of Playboy.

Based on the results of a panel discussion with some LA call girls, Playboy ranked the top five hottest governors as:

  1. Arnold Schwarzenegger (California)
  2. Jeb Bush (Florida)
  3. Jennifer Granholm (Michigan)
  4. Chet Culver (Iowa)
  5. Martin O’Malley (Maryland)

Bill Richardson, Mike Huckabee, and Eliot Spitzer (last place) were at the other end of the 18 governors being rated.

So what do you think? Is this one ranking O’Malley and his biceps deserve?

  1. i'm sure there are plenty of marylanders who would prefer to 'do' him now in a more 'hitman' sense.

  2. Have you ever seen Jennifer Granholm?

This only leads me to believe those not chosen for this list must look like Medusa!

  3. Helllo he should be #1. Arnold only got it b/c the call girls were from California

  4. I won't deny that Smilin' Martin is a cute dude, but if I ever have to see him in a cutoff t-shirt sportin' his biceps while playing irritating irish music outside of Ryleigh's again I will certainly heave. All over him. And his guitar.

  5. I used to think he was pretty "doable." He goes to my gym and trust me, I've seen the "total package." However, I have trouble seeing him as anything more than a typical gub'ment douchebag these days.

Too bad - We would have been so good together Marty. I guess we've just grown apart. Sigh.

  6. Did bthesite.com really write this? Wow. I thought this site was geared toward the intelligent, tech-savvy 20's and early 30's generation. You guys sent the wrong info to beta-testers. Bad form, poor taste. No class, no style.

  7. It's a blog douchebag - not a physics symposium. That said, I sort of agree with you. They couldn't have chosen a less edgy and bland writing crew...for the most part. I don't even pick-up the hard copy anymore. I refuse to cringe at the horrendous design again.

  8. Joe, I tend to think that if something falls within the taste boundaries of a traditional daily newspaper (such as The Sun), then it's certainly fair game for b.

I also delight in the irony of Playboy engaging in some (mostly) male objectifying, for once. So I disagree that discussing the inclusion of our governor in a major national magazine is a sign of "Bad form, poor taste. No class, no style."

The real question here, as Jordan says, is who put Jeb Bush on this list? That's the real outrage.

  9. seriously...in what word is Jeb Bush "doable"?
