The hits keep on coming

I’ve got another one of those feel-good sports stories for you – and I’m not talking about Orioles pitcher Jeremy Guthrie finally winning a game. This one involves former Oriole Miguel Tejada, who was traded to Houston in the offseason. Apparently, Tejada promised an 8-year-old boy with muscular dystrophy that he would hit a home run for him Friday afternoon – and delivered. (Is it sad that when I first heard of this kind and quasi-heroic gesture, it immediately made me think of the movie Baseketball?)

Anyways, Tejada has been under fire recently for lying about his age when he was a teenager trying to break into the big leagues (he’s actually 33, not 31). Let’s hope those people who were bashing him a couple of weeks ago took note of what he did on Friday.
