It's true - that's why why "baby booking" exists. Usually under-age kids are released to thier parents when they get arrested. In Baltimore they can rarely find the parents, so they have to hold the kids somewhere.

It's sad.

BTW Woodchuck, do you have to be a douchebag ALL the time? Even I take a break sometimes. I love how you think you're so much better than anyone who shows some sign of weakness. I joke about it...but I think you REALLY believe it. What we would find if we paged through your life a little? A skeleton or two I'm sure...probably an effin' graveyard.

Maybe if we could design an internet ready crack pipe.

Seriously though getting these parents involved is going to be really hard because you have to find them first. You'd be amazed at the number of children in Baltimore city who are abandoned by their parents. They are then raised by Aunts or Grandmothers who are already overwhelmed enough.

A website so that parents can monitor their child's grades? Yeah, that'd be great if everyone had a computer. I'm glad these people have actually researched how these families actually live. Morons.

Otherwise I think it is a good plan - at least they're looking in the right direction. Their efforts certainly can't hurt at this point.

Only about 1/3 third of Baltimore schools have PTA's? I didn't know that. I wish my school could get a grant to get parents involved. It seems that PTA's are something that parents inheritly desire for their children. It would be interesting to see how schools get uninvolved parents involved. That may be harder than getting students involved. I do hope it works though.
