Burns e-mails Sowers about comments

Margaret Burns e-mailed Anna Sowers yesterday to explain her comments regarding Zach Sowers. Some (like the Sun) are referring to the letter as an apology. Others (like Anna herself [see June 18 post]) are not so sure that it qualifies as one.
Burns largely maintains that she was misrepresented in the article and does not recall “speaking in the tone” that is reflected in her printed comments. The reporter, Melody Simmons, spoke on WBAL radio yesterday and stood behind her article.
Said Simmons: “At the time when I interviewed Marty, I found that her comments were surprising, but we were totally on the record. And I even questioned her at the time of the interview that what I was hearing was all new stuff. Her response was we could never speak about this before because the case had not been settled, the defendants not sentenced.”
Anna is demanding a public apology from Burns, along with a retraction of the statements published in the article.
The Sun posted a PDF of Burns’ letter. You can judge for yourself. Apology or not?

Burns should be in the unemployment line. It is obvious that her and her boss have no idea how to run a States Attorney Office and are too busy making plea bargains and excuses for criminals.

NOT an apology. A typical BS politician legalese wiggle-your-way-out-and-say-nothing letter. She needs to resign, or if Jessamy has ANY leadership skills, she would fire Burns.

Oh, my, what a load of crap. This isn't an apology, it is a PR maneuver, and not very good at that. E-mail? For an offense this grave? Burns should have met with her privately for a face to face if she wanted to be taken sincerely.
CantonTown is right: if the State's Attorney had any leadership skills, Burns would be out. Alas, that seems unlikely.
