Ehrlich back in the State House

Former Governor Robert Ehrlich and his wife will have their official state portraits unveiled tomorrow — portraits that will hang in the State House after its renovations and that usually mark the end of a career.
However, the Examiner is speculating today on whether Ehrlich’s career as governor is actually over. Ehrlich maintains a campaign office in Towson, still fundraises, and makes a number of public appearances — including a weekly radio show.
Referring to the current administration, Ehrlich said: “They’re breaking the state every day.” However, when asked if he will run against O’Malley in the next election, the former governor responded: “It’s far too early to think about [running]” and that the decision would “be a function of a lot of things.”
Apparently to blame for his loss is a political environment in Maryland that is not welcoming to Republicans. Would you like to see a face-off between O’Malley and Ehrlich in the next election — again? Or do we need some new blood in Annapolis?

I know O'Malley isn't perfect, but he's is certainly more dynamic tha Glendening was, and for sure beats the hell out of Ehrlich so far. The Ehrlich administration was arrogant, inept, overbearing, mean-spirited and ignored facts in favor of opinions. They seem to be taking a lot of cues from the current national administartion approach to politics, which was and is a horrible way to govern.
New blood usually seems to be a good thing in government, but I wouldn't call an O'Malley-Ehrlich matchup a battle of the newcomers; not so much choosing who would do better but choosing who would suck less. Because of the way Ehrlich and Co. behaved, I could not bring myself to vote for him and I don't know if I will ever be able to hear his name without thinking 'bully' and 'fascist' at the same time.
