Grand Jury to hear Dixon case

The case against Sheila Dixon is moving ahead.

Not only have four more people been subpoenaed (plus a former chief of staff who reportedly received her subpoena months ago), but a Grand Jury is scheduled to hear evidence on the case beginning next week.

Dixon’s current and former staffers, as well as others in private industries, will testify over the coming weeks. Sources have said that the case is focusing on gifts given to Dixon by a “politically connected contractor.”

The attorney for one local contractor — Doracon Contracting, whose offices were also searched — said the investigation into Dixon is “obscene” and “arrogant.”

A local defense attorney, Dwight Pettit, had this to say: “They’d be very, very hard-pressed to convict her in Baltimore City. A Baltimore jury will laugh them out of court.”

Is he right?

  1. Well lets try to look on the bright side here. Maybe they will offer her free speech classes while in jail.

  2. He's right, so very right, I would point to the Clay Davis trial on The Wire as a transcript with regards to what will happen during the trial.

  3. Seriously. Even if the fit hits the shan so to speak, she'll simply step down and get some really lucrative consulting work. That's really politricks is you know...the stepping stone to some real money on the come back.

Sheila is just a bit too greedy - she tried to cash in too quick and too large.

    !

p.s. Am the only one that wouldn't blink an eye if you saw her down on Monroe scoring crack? Save for the industrial strength make-up, she looks like an extra from the wire.

  4. Dwight Pettit is Full-o-S---. Remember Dixon was elected by 47% of only 30% of the registered voters. That leaves almost 85% of potential jurors that could likely be fair and objective, even more when you conside some voters come from motor rolls in addition to voter rolls.

Dixon may not be the worst mayor. But, I cannot get past her IGNORANCE and poor speech.
