Most of the "Halloween" and "Nightmare on Elm St." pictures are in that genre, although I agree that the original "Halloween" was pretty scary. I've always found "The Exorcist" to be very disquieting from a psychological standpoint. Even in its calmer moments the tension just doesn't let up. "Alien" is like that as well.
