‘Sopranos’ ended a year ago today. Here’s the Baltimore version

I got into “Tell Me You Love Me,” but the two don’t really compare.

In this video, my favorite part is the Afro Hut shot. A. It’s near my house. B. It has such a distinctive name, it really has become a landmark.

  1. It's like a whole other era -- gas is $1.74/gallon on the Sunoco sign.

  2. Afrohut is great, but it's no Mr. Ray's Hair Weave.

  3. That is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. I actually heard the intro song on the radio the other day when I was driving around town.

  4. I think you're right, Lori. It's like a time warp.

Evan, I totally forgot about Mr. Ray's! I'm glad you remembered it -- none of my colleagues seem to. Just one more thing to make me feel old and nostalgic. So, this is for you:

  5. What would be Baltimore's version of the Bada Bing! ?

  6. AWESOME. I honestly wish I could frame the Mr. Ray's commercial and mount it on my wall somehow.

I feel like Baltimore's Bada Bing! is hard to define, coz it always seemed to me that the bing was never really very crowded, as it was a front, tucked off on a jersey road somewhere... I would have gone with Night Shift but they do quite a lot of business and don't really fit the profile, but definitely the location.
