Is “Generation Kill” a wake up call for TV viewers or too sensitive a subject?

I've not seen the show yet (is it even playing yet?) but heard that these shows are fighting against America was fatigue on screen. And I know people who were there at the same time/place/duty and will not watch it. Probably not for many years. Why go back to hell? But what do I know? I'm a lazy middle class intelectual.
