Fanboy Feasting No. 7

What can I say—I’m a sucker for cute things!

For months (actually, probably years by now), the gaming community has been senselessly teased by Sim’s creator Will Wright and the folks at Electronic Arts about a little game (understatement of the century) called Spore. For quite some time we were strung along, with our salivating tongues hanging out, in awe over the innovative and intensely interactive potential of this game.

So far, we have yet to see the full version of Spore but the Spore Creature Creatorhas given us enough of a taste of whats to come to hold over, for now.

Spore Creature Creator, which is available in both a full and trial version of the game, allows you to build a creature from head to toe with a selection of 228 drag-and-drop parts. Once you’re done building you can go ahead and customize your creation’s colors and skins, play with your creature and take pictures/record video to share with your friends, family and the widespread and growing Spore community.

Think social-networking with a more-involved Tamagotchi

Spore is slated for a September release (close to my birthday, hint* hint*) for both Mac and PC, and will take this uber-custom player experience to the next level — I hope.

With Spore you can nurture your creature through five stages of evolution: Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space. Beyond that you can further customize the world your creations will live in making creatures, vehicles, buildings and spaceships with Spore’s Creator tools.

If you’ve already created your own creature using the Spore Creature Creator, post your screen shots and video here at bthesite.com
