Vanity Fair satirizes John McCain

Not to be outdone by the controversial New Yorker cover of Sen. Barack Obama, Vanity Fair has released its own satirical cover of Sen. John McCain.
McCain is not pictured as a terrorist, but rather as an old man using a walker. He’s giving his wife, Cindy, an Obama-esque fist bump as she holds a bunch of pills in her hand. A picture of George W. Bush is hanging above the fireplace. In the fireplace, the Constitution is set on fire.
The cover is only appearing online.
The McCain campaign has been screaming out for equal time and more coverage. It looks like they got it.
Is it just me, or does this totally just strike you as an attempt to get some attention back after their competition got lots of publicity for their cover?
Vanity Fair says they decided to publish it on their website because they want to stand in solidarity with the New Yorker.
This is no New Yorker cover. Do you even find it that provoking?

Edgy? No. Clever? Yes. It's worth at least a smirk.
