Finding shoe love

red shoes
I’ve been on an unconscious hunt, and I just realized it. My prey: the ever ellusive red shoe. When I go shopping, I always skim though the shoes (it’s a weakness), but I can never find the perfect pair.
Why can’t I find them? I don’t know. I was shopping with a friend a few months ago, and I saw the perfect pair, but not in my size. (Tall women have all the trouble in the world finding a decent pair of shoes, I tell you.) I convinced my friend to try them on, and they were so cute. I attempted to convince her to buy them, you know, so I could live vicariously through her red-shoed feet. “What would I wear with them?” she whined. “A pair of dark jeans and a black shirt. You will look so cute!” I even went the boyfriend route: “He would love them on you!” Nope, still wasn’t having it. I almost had her, but she chickened out.
So what made these shoes different? They were cherry red – a cooler red. Patent leather, with a somewhat round toe, and a perfect height heel. Not too high, but not too short. And it was delicate, not chunky.
This sounds very particular, but I have to more than like a shoe. A shoe has to inspire outfits. A shoe that I just like won’t necessarily inspire anything. I must love it. (You can call me crazy, but you can’t call me unfashionable.) Some other criteria:
No flats (I feel like these would be in Ronald McDonald’s sister’s closet.)
Cork is fine, but in moderation. An example of too much.
And these are an example of a pair I like, but don’t love. Eh.
And with that, the hunt continues.

That's funny, I was going to suggest bluefly...but clearly the secret is out. I love bluefly - every pair of Prada shoes I own was culled from that little piece of paradise. Watch out for their jeans though...not always the size they claim them to be.
Have you tried "Shoe Mecca" - otherwise known as Nordstom rack in Towson Town Center. I've lead many a straight guy there to pray at the holy land of shoes. They always leave a better person...shedding their sketchers and flip flops like tears of joy.
I consider it a public service.

As a guy I can't really speak of shoes much... Not sure if they would have the pair you seek, but my ex used to love a quirky little shop on "The Avenue" in Hampden called Ma Petite Shoe. It is a combination shoe store and chocolate shop- Unique combination but both tend to appeal to women on a deep deep level somehow.
Good Luck!
