‘Zack and Miri’ cause a ruckus

Kevin Smith’s new comedy “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” can’t help but turn some heads and get a few weird glances when someone talks about it.

To stir things up even more, Smith released the Red Band trailer earlier this week as well as a poster that has already been banned in the States.

Watch the trailer and tell us what you think. Just be warned, this isn’t censored and has a lot of crude and offensive language. Don’t say I didn’t warn you:

Not scared off yet? Click here to see the official poster. It may look innocent at first, just give it a few seconds to sink it.

  1. My God, I have just seen the trailer for what will probably be THEEEE funniest movie of my lifetime.

  2. i'm pretty excited
i'm hoping kevin won't let us down

  3. I'm a shameless Kevin Smith addict. clerks 2? AWESOME flick. I saw this trailer yesterday and have probably watched it 10 times.
    I can't wait for Oct 31st!!!!

  4. I'm seriously not trying to be contrary here...but honestly, that looks like a horrible piece of **** to me. Smith is a total schmo for getting Seth Rogan. He used to be able to rely on a decent script fortified with winning dialogue/character chemistry...I guess now he just wants the easy win.

Too bad. I was wondering when the next Smith movie was coming...and I guess this is it. Oh well, better luck next time.

And the poster doesn't look daring...it makes the movie seem like just another 20-something "sex comedy" swiping at low hanging fruit.

    !

  5. Smith has been using A-List actors for at least a decade. You could probably say that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were on the up-and-up by the time "Chasing Amy" was released, but Dogma has a laundry list of top actors: Affleck, Damon, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, George Carlin, Alan Rickman, and more:

Whether or not his older movies were better, picking known actors has nothing to do with it.

  6. I wouldn't call any of those a-list actors my friend. Maybe a-list comedians...but not actors...and yes there is a difference.

Seth Rogen is riding a wave right now...and Kevin Smith has never picked actors with his level of popularity at the time of production...keep in mind...this movie was probably in the can more than a year ago. Smack dab in the middle of 40-year old virgin and knocked-up.

So yeah...his choice of Seth Rogen IS in fact a departure...and for ME that's one of the things that make this movie look like an obvious and safe choice (read: yawn, snorefest.)

And don't even get me started about how awful and unfunny I think Seth Rogen is. Wow, a fart joke AND a boob joke...oh yeah, he's a real side spliter.

  7. actually, the film completed filming maybe 6 months ago. Being a Smith-addict I have followed the production of the movie. 40Year Old Virgin came out in 2005, SuperBad was last year... as this movie was in pre-production. so, sortry man, just not right.

And, yeah, Rogen is a bunch of dick and fart jokes. that's what Kevin Smith does best... and this movie is about an amateur porno? That all but guaranteees those kinds of jokes... but, for both guys, it's going out of their comfort zone as far as who they work with.

Oh.. and you go tell Matt Damon and Ben Affleck or Selma Hayek they're not a-listers. Chris Rock and George Carlin (RIP) I think you may make an argument on... but the box office of the Ocean movies as well as the Bourne movies, Armageddon, Volver and a list of other flicks will argue the A-list status of the first 3.

  8. Well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Again, I'm not trying to be contrary...it just looks like pretty ****ty to me....

  9. I think it's daring for both Smith AND Rogen.
Smith-- It feels like this is what he wanted out of Jersey girl. Both have romantic comedy undertones but this one subscribes to his signature humor a lot more. it is his second variance from View Askew universe stuff and doesn't star his tried and true regulars... who do make appearances, but not the main focus.

For Rogen, this is him branching out and proving he can be funny without his own writing and without Judd Apatow. Yes, Rogen is the top funny man in films right now but his role in Superbad was small and Pineapple Express was seen as a step back.

  10. Take it for what it is worth, a comedy. Liked the Clerks movies, FYI> this stuff happens in real live. Kick back and enjoy and you will laugh!
