Lacy, lacy things

Lace
A big trend this fall is lace — and not just on underthings. Just check out how Prada used lacy inspiration. Feminine, unusual and unexpected, lace fabric adds texture to an otherwise Ok form.
Some may call it dramatic, others may call it trampy, but black lace worn in a certain way can have that effect. How to alleviate it? Go for a more traditional cut piece of clothing, such as this shirt from Fashion Bug. And always, always, always remember this rule: Show a little leg, or a little cleavage, but never both at one time. This simple concept goes a long way with lace, or anything really.
I love this white lace shirt from Boscov’s. Not too sure about the ruffles yet, but they don’t appear so ruffle-y on this shirt. Sidenote: Ruffles are another blog post.
Also, I’ve found myself drawn to the high contrast of black and white. This shirt from Fashion Bug (I know, twice in one blog? Crazy! Kudos to them though …) has that same contrast with a hint of lace — just in case any previous examples were lace overboard.
Normally, I’d shy away from an all-lace dress, but this Bloomingdale’s halter dress has convinced me otherwise. A less lacy alternative: Spiegel’s beaded and lace dress. I’m not certain where to wear it, but I sure do like it! Maybe New Year’s Eve somewhere? Maybe? Just a thought …
These pieces are some of the highlights when I did a search on Like.com. Is there anything I missed?
Keeping a lace piece classy isn’t difficult — just let that element sing while accessories add interest but don’t create a really busy (or trampy) ensemble. Keeping make-up and hair relatively conservative is also helpful. Basically, keep it simple.

The words "fashion" and "bug" should never be used in the same sentence.
Just sayin...

Normally, I share the same sentiment, but those shirts were cute and under $30. Fashion Bug or not, I liked them :-)
