10 Spot: The week’s best, from Bernie Mac to Sarah Palin lookalikes

Soul Men {thanks, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer}
Soul Men {thanks, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer}

From today’s b, the paper

‘Soul Men’

“Soul Men” had me at Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson. Isaac Hayes ain’t bad either. Former singing duo (Mac and Jackson) reunite after not speaking for 20 years. Warms my heart. There are bowties, their “MUTHASHIP” car and dance moves you won’t wanna miss. The late Mac’s also the voice of Zuba in the sequel to “Madagascar” which opens Friday, same day as “Soul Men.” {Alisia Chapman, b}

Scores’ Sarah Palin lookalike contest
I’m guessing the participants will spend much less than $150,000 on clothes, but maintain the winking and sexy hair bun. The winner gets $100, I betcha. Tuesday. 615 Fallsway. scoresbaltimore.com. {Jordan Bartel, b}

‘Rachael Ray’s Big Orange Book’
Never know what to cook? Never fear; “Rachael Ray’s Big Orange Book” comes out Tuesday with more than enough ideas, including kosher meals, vegetarian dishes and holiday dinners that are all part of this 400+ recipe collection. {Aubrey Fornwalt, b}

Terps basketball vs. Northwood

OK, so it’s an exhibition game against a team I’ve never heard of. But it’s a chance to see the young, enigmatic Terps, including Baltimore’s own Sean Mosley and a slimmed-down Braxton Dupree, in (sort of) real action. Plus, it’s college basketball! March Madness is only four months away! 2 p.m. Saturday, College Park. {Andrew Schaefer, b}

Amy Sedaris
If you can get past imagining her as the buck-toothed character in “Strangers With Candy,” you’ll find that Amy Sedaris is charming, witty and quite the cook. She’s taking time out from her cupcake and cheeseball business (no, really) in her Manhattan home and making an appearance at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick Friday. 8 p.m. $20-$27. {Marissa Richardson, b}

Drill Baby Drill party
Election Day (Tuesday for those hermits out there), Center Stage will be hosting an election night celebrity baby shower. Games, performances, stand-up comedy and up-to-the-minute election coverage await you. Doors open at 8. {Tim Wong, b}

‘Role Models’
When Danny and Wheeler (Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott) are given the choice of prison or mentoring, mentoring wins hands down. The program — “Sturdy Wings” — brings together “littles” (kids) and “bigs” (adults) to teach kids that a life with drugs and alcohol is not a life at all. Opens Friday. Oh, and check out sturdywings.org. Hilarious! {Aubrey Fornwalt, b}

‘Survivorman’

Our favorite survivor is back for a third season. Let’s not kid ourselves — he’s no Bear Grylls — but a guy showing us how to defeat Mother Nature (or at least survive her) is always fun. Discovery Channel: 9 p.m. Friday. {Alisia Chapman, b}

Ravens vs. Texans

Two months after they were originally scheduled to play, the Ravens and Texans meet in Houston with a lot more on the line than there would have been in Week 2: Both are amidst the battle for playoff spots. 1 p.m. Sunday on CBS. {Matt Vensel, b}

Mountain Goats and Kaki King
The indie band and guitar-strumming songstress teamed up for a six-song EP and they’re now taking it on the road. Be prepared for quirky songs, crazy guitar solos and hopefully a rendition of Ace of Base’s “The Sign.” What’s not to love? 9:30 Club. Doors: 7 p.m. Friday. $18. {Marissa Richardson, b}
