Post Rockettes — surprised to see Matt Stover and wishing my legs were longer

Despite the heat I took from my coworkers for even showing interest in watching the Rockettes (officially The Rockettes’ Radio City Christmas Spectacular) I went with my family last night. It was not what I expected.
First, I’m waiting for the show to start and here comes Matt Stover on stage. Wow. Weird. Funny. Weird. And, yeah I get the kicking connection with the ladies. But still, weird. He introduced the show and also made sure to tell all the Redskins’ fans in the house that they weren’t welcome. Funny.
Then the show starts and honestly, I expected it to be cute and a little boring. I was wrong (not on the cute part). It was high-tech and entertaining. At one point the dancers are on a bus taking a virtual tour of New York City. Impressive. I felt like I was there, almost.
The toy soldier dance was one of my favorites. The lined up single file and fell back into each other one by one in ultra slow motion. My other favorite part was when one Santa dancer turned into a handful, then dozens and then hundreds, including ones added through technology.
Kids’ jaws dropped, literally, at the sight of multiple Santas on stage and you could hear them going “Oh, my God” and “How can I tell which one is the real Santa?”
I also noticed in the crowd there was a group there supporting one of the local dancers — maybe Samantha Harvey, a 22-year-old Towson grad, who was second from the right in the line of long legs. Her family said they had bought a block of tickets for the show. The group would jump up, throw their hands in the air and cheer, the kind of cheer you do only if you know someone in the show.
And even though I left the show asking Santa for longer legs, the Rockettes still put me in the holiday spirit. It might do the same for you. The show runs through Dec. 7.

That's great that Stover opened things up. How priceless.
I'm guessing Denison Cabral wasn't available?

I'm going to see the Rockettes at Radio City this Saturday...don't feel bad. Your co-workers just lack culture. Or something...
