What did you learn in school that has proven to be completely useless?

  1. Theorems, postulates and properties used in geometry. Never really learned them, and can't think of a single instance since high school when I needed to know how to solve a proof.

  2. (Sorry i want to copy your great comeback line Marrisa 2 thumbs up) Granny....i read your comment to me, i work 3pm-11pm so i didnt have time to respond back) Granny....yes mother! Is there anything else i can do for you on this beautiful morning? Your such a kind and wonderful soul....appaprently you dont like me.....But i will be nice and mail you a wheelchair Granny! Do you want me to mail you a cane also?

  3. actually, tim, it wasn't a comeback at Granny at all. more of a "that's something my mom would say." and i love my mom, she's a smart lady. hence the reply.
no need to get up in arms. we're all just trying to have fun here :-)

  4. I am leaving this site, i will now be writing my own column! I want to wish the readers the best luck in the future! if your reading this Mr.? its just my way of telling the readers goodbye! Im excited about getting my own column...im gonna make some noise! I hope there ready for me..im gonna tear the roof down! That being said...i now retire from B! I will be writing for someone else! I leave you by saying...PEACE!!!!!!!

  5. Timber is the Basquiat to Sam Sessa's Warhol? At last, a diamond discovered in the rough. Best of luck to you, Timber. You know, just because you've made it to The Show, doesn't mean you're not welcome to slum it on this site with the rest of, right? You'll always have a home here, big guy.

  6. How can you think this is useless? Math is a beautiful language where facts talk and b---s--- walks. You can't prove a theorem by saying "because it does", or "because it's a good equation", which is how I imagine Pres. Bush might have answered more than once. At its best it forms the basis of all rational discourse.

  7. spencerpup you are the man! I agree with you on Granny thinking math is useless is just plain crazy! I agree 100% with your statement.....

  8. I agree with Granny. All that algebra/geometry stuff left my head the moment I was handed my diploma. It's been more than 28 years since I graduated from high school, and I can honestly say that I have never had any reason in life to utilize what I was taught in advanced math classes. I wish the public school system had more practical classes back then, so I wouldn've have wasted so much time taking courses that ultimately served no purpose in my life.

  9. Everything i learned in school was useless! I wasted 18 years in some city school institution, i like to call the worst years of my life!

  10. Spencerpup, I don't find all math useless, just geometry (the proving part). Actually, I have a keen appreciation for the precision of math - it's either right or wrong, there is no gray area. Geometry is over my head, though.

Tim, I don’t dislike you at all. In fact, I think you are a very amusing writer. What I do dislike, however, is when you (or any other writer) attack other writers with personal insults when they disagree with your/their opinion, hence my remarks yesterday. BTW, I’m not your typical Granny – I’m a younger Maxine with much more attitude, so watch it.

  11. I like you Granny....I just got offered a guest column at a major Newspaper...No Joke!!! I am so happy! I left my e-mail here a few days ago...I will be writing my own column! (cant reveal it yet, still in finishing talks) B writers...whats a guest columnist mean? This is a top 5, top7 paper in America! Im ready to become a star!

  12. Congrats, Tim! I'm sure you'll be the best.

  13. Home-Ec was a requirement in my middle school and we made pillows. I may be speaking to soon but I haven't been in a situation yet where I needed pillow making skills.

  14. Chemistry....What good is it if I can't find the right damn guy to have great chemisty with, lmao...

  15. I went to Dundalk High, so really the most useless thing I learned was how to skip school and not getting marked absent.
