1:26 p.m.: Random texts I’ve gotten since the inauguration include: “Congratulations :)” from a close friend who was relatively ambivalent regarding the outcome of the election and “YES HE DID! Hallelujah!” from my best friend’s mother.

I plugged my destination address into traffic.com. It’s saying that the roadways are open right now and that it should only take us 53 minutes to get to Chevy Chase. I think it’s lying, but I’m tempted to give I-95 a try anyway. I’m certainly allotting plenty of time to get down there, but I’m not going to decide on our route until we get closer to leaving.
