9:54 a.m.: The coverage on Hulu was really out of sync and was a feed from Fox News, which hurt my soul. I switched to MSNBC’s coverage, and that stream seems to be at least a little better.
Twitter has crashed a few times, but I did learn from several different feeds that they had to close the Mall already and that a passenger was struck on the Red Line of the Metro (which is the line I plan on using tonight to get from Bethesda to Union Station).
We have calls in to our co-workers that were planning on attending to swearing in today, but haven’t been able to get through yet. This is a far cry from how calm the District was on Sunday when I traveled to the Convention Center to pick up our Inaugural ball tickets.
On a side note, the normal (non-commemorative) Metro tickets that popped out of the machine on Sunday still had Obama’s face on them. It was a welcome surprise that I have some instant inaugural souvenirs, and they only cost me $5 a pop! Attached is a photo of our ball and Metro tickets.
9:13 a.m.: I’m watching the inaugural coverage streaming live on Hulu . This morning on the news, I heard that text message updates and the internet are both predicted to be running on a delay because of all the inaugural hubub.
I’ve been getting Metro updates by e-mail and text and every few minutes, I get a new alert advising me that a new Metro parking lot is full. It’s my sincere hope that some of this is cleared up by the time that I head down in that direction.
It’s also my plan to avoid 95, 295, and the Capital Beltway when I trek down to Chevy Chase to get changed and hook up with the Metro, but I’ll be keeping a close watch on traffic all day regardless.

8:41 a.m.: Even Starbucks was getting into the inaugural spirit with red, white, and blue sleeves on their cups. At 7:30 am, the New Town Starbucks in Owings Mills only had two copies of today’s inaugural edition of the Baltimore Sun left. People definitely seem to be getting into the inaugural spirit even though they’re not in DC. When I got into work, a co-worker’s three-year-old who’s in the office due to a school opening delay proudly proclaimed that today was “Barack Obama President day!”
