Your Obama whistlestop pix, Dixon snubbed and flag etiquette

Were you at War Memorial Plaza today? Upload your pix here or e-mail heard@bthesite.com. We’d love to publish them in Monday’s b.

If you were there, you probably noticed (as The Sun’s Andy Green did) that President-Elect Obama made no mention of indicted Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon  — although he did manage to mention the governor, the Senate (including Nancy Pelosi) and our congressional delegation. Just not City Hall.

Also, some observers (like Inside Charm City’s Stan Moore) are taking note  of — and exception to — liberties that some in attendance were taking with the American flag.

Did you join the thousands in the cold, did you watch C-Span (or CNN, or something else), or did you do avoid the news altogether?

  1. I braved the cold and noted that Mayor Dixon was not mentioned by any of the speakers. To me it wasn't surprising when I interviewed Congressman Cummings earlier in the week O'Malley wasn't initially mentioned, and he inferred that a citizen would speak prior to Obama.

HaHa I noted some were not happy with the liberties people took with flags, cameras, or even small children. "Put that child down so I can see," was my quote of the day.

  2. Personally my favorite moment was the overwhelming BOO's that O'Malley's appearance garnered, and once he started blathering on and on everyone started chanting O-BA-MA O-BA-MA to get him off stage. It was pretty awesome.

The gospel choir was pretty impressive as well.

  3. Those flag people should probably look into getting lives. Maybe take up tai-chi or something.
