{thanks, Lisa Despres}
Lisa Despres, 29, lives in Columbia and works as a Slumber Parties distributor. She talked to b about her work for the “My job” feature.
Time in position: I started in June of 2004.
What does your job consist of: I educate and empower women in every aspect of their sensual relationships through in-home parties. Women are able to touch, smell and taste our products and ask questions. I also have a Web site, www.slumberpartiesbylisad.com, where women can learn more about slumber parties.
What do you like about your work: EVERYTHING! I love being my own boss and not having to answer to anyone. I love making my own hours and deciding where and when I want to work. I love not having to request time off if I want to go on vacation with my family. If I don’t want to work one weekend, I don’t work. I decide how busy I want to be. Because of Slumber Parties, I am able to stay home with my three children and I get to see my husband a LOT more than I did when I was a retail manager. Those birthday parties for nieces and nephews that I always missed because of work … I don’t miss those any more!
How much do you earn: On average, between $200-$400 per party (with eight-10 parties a month).
What prepared you for this: There wasn’t anything in particular that prepared me for wanting to start my own Slumber Parties business, other than a love of talking and talking about sex with my friends. As for actual education on the product, I viewed other distributors parties, including my sponsor, to learn about our products. Besides the training DVD in our investment start-up kits, there is also free training at our free corporate events of National Training and National Convention.
What is your goal: I have a lot of different goals. I hope to one day become a member of the Slumber Parties Advisory Board. I am also currently working on eliminating all debt in my life. … Sex is recession-proof, and Slumber Parties Consultants are definitely not lacking for want of parties.
