Baltimore singer-songwriter Caleb Stine takes over the mix tape this week {thanks, THE BALTIMORE SUN}
Caleb Stine, a staple of Baltimore’s music scene, takes over this week’s Mix Tape, serving up a set from some of his favorite area artists. For more information on Stine, check out calebstine.com.
One of the best parts of playing music and putting together shows is getting to listen to the up-and-coming artists who are working their butts off, getting their music out into the world — just like me. Everyone is coming at it from their own angle, with their own motivations.
Sometimes I’ll get on a bill where I really don’t care for the other acts, but that’s pretty rare. Usually, there’s something about the music that surprises or enlivens me. And every so often I’ll hear someone such as John McCauley of Deer Tick playing in a warehouse somewhere and go, holy cow, this is amazing.
So here’s my mix tape of a small cross-section of the music that deserves to be heard. It’s filled with a lot of friends, people I really admire and musicians who are in it for the real deal. I hope you like it.
