Could Parking Wars Soon End?

A few months back I wrote about how the show “Parking Wars” is one of my faves.

I know a lot of people found that the real life parking wars they face here in Baltimore are a little less than funny.

First, you can’t find a spot.

Second, just when you think you’ve found the perfect place to park it turns out you’ve parked illegally.
There may however be some good news as our partners at The Sun report that the city could soon cap the fine on parking tickets.

Many news organizations have done stories on how local residents have racked up astronomical parking fines.

The fines start as a minimal amount and then skyrocket and get compounded the longer they go unpaid. No one disputes that a late fee should be attached, but what is disputed is how much more money one then has to pay.

Baltimore City Councilman Bernard “Jack” Young says the rate should be no more than five times the rate of the original ticket.

In case you’re wondering if you have outstanding parking tickets here in the city, there’s a way to find out, and it’s as simple as having your license plate number.

Visit the city’s Parking Fines site to check and see if you owe the city money.
