WHAT: The African American Heritage Festival
WHEN: 4-10 p.m. Friday; noon-10 p.m. Saturday; noon-9 p.m. Sunday
WHERE: M&T Bank Stadium, lots B and C
COST: $5 (children 12 and younger free)
EXPECTED CROWD: The festival typically attracts 500,000 people over the three days.
HEADLINERS: There’s three main headliners this year. Teena Marie (with Raheem Devaughn) kicks things off at 7 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, En Vogue (with Tony! Toni! Tone!) will remind us that we’re still never gonna get it, starting at 6:50 p.m. And Anita Baker makes Sunday smooth with a 7:30 p.m. show. Tickets to each of the three headliner shows are $40-$80.
OTHER MUSIC: Saturday’s a big day for music at Lot C, with a talent showcase at noon; Sankofa Dance Company at 1:30 p.m.; JSoul at 3 p.m., Curt Chambers at 4:30 p.m.; and Maimouna Youssef at 5:45 p.m. At Lot B, each day has a packed schedule of acts on the hour.
OTHER ATTRACTIONS: “Villages” on issues such as health, arts and higher education; lots of good food vendors; children’s activities areas; a 1.5-mile walk and 5K run (8-10 a.m. Saturday); Inner Harbor fireworks display on Saturday.
VIP ALTERNATIVE: For $5,000 visitors can enjoy a private “cabana,” with eight tickets to the headliners, four parking passes, complimentary alcohol, personal server and lounge furniture.

Sorry Sheila. I represent about 200 people who will not be attending this year (as I am sure there are others) due to the fact that we are being charged for what was in the past free entertainment.
