{thanks, AP}
This week’s theme is “ocean.” E-mail your .jpg submission with your name, age, and town to heard@bthesite.com by 2 p.m. Wednesday to be entered. Shortly after the deadline, finalists will be chosen by our staff and then online voting by our readers will begin and continue until 2 p.m. Thursday. The winning image, along with other select entries, will run in the weekend publication of b. Remember the larger you send the image the better it will look in print. If you have an idea for a future theme, please include it in a comment here or in your email with your photo submission. Have a good weekend and happy shooting.

My name is Tanya Jones. I submitted a photo of a young man pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of America "one nation UNDER GOD" for the Patriotic photo contest. It was depicted in today's b next to a prominent image portraying Godless America. I, personally, am HIGHLY OFFENDED. Not with your three contest selections (I understand that controversy sells) but with the placement of MY photo. MY COUNTRY is still a nation under GOD - and as a citizen of the United States my desire is for this Country to always be BLESSED by GOD. I would rather you had NOT published my photo at all, rather than print it next to that ANTI-PATRIOTRIC photo. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

I feel ya, and I think alot of other people do too. I think the b was just trying to spark some debate - as shameful as that is. Yes, GOD bless America!

yeah - seems like the b usually picks a rag photo to get a conversation going - no contest which one that was this week

i took the "godless america" photo as the photographer's own commentary on freedom of speech, which is pretty "patriotic" last i checked. it's cool to agree or disagree with the photo's message, but i don't think it was published just for "controversy" but rather as a statement.

That's a nice way to spin it - I guess we can always find something good if we look hard enough. I see God in good. I see God in America.

I could paint F*CK YOU on the wall also - but that message is no more patriotic than the one conveyed in this photo. Too bad they didn't have a photo of a flag being burned. That would have truly been Patriotism at its finest. Why resort to ugliness to make a statement?

I love America also, I just dont love how our USA politicians continue to take our money any way they can! Just check up the latest Maryland Goverment attempt to make us pay 25cents tax on any bag we get from a restaurant or store, then you have the speed cameras(on there way) the new 6 cent state tax, if your a cigarette smoker like me, they raised the packs up $2(tax)! This is all in the last year! I know one thing..it will be very patriotic to VOTE OUT Martin O"Malley at the next goverment election! And will somebody tell his music group to retire already..haha!

tjones - That particular photo came in last place in the contest, so obviously many people agree with you (including myself.) True patriotism prevailed.
