Johns Hopkins University has accepted Hollywood’s friendship request.

The school announced Tuesday that its Homewood campus will double for Harvard University for the filming of “The Social Network,” a feature film about the founding of Facebook and the life of its creator, Mark Zuckerberg.

David Fincher (“Fight Club,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) is directing, and the film stars Jesse Eisenberg (“Zombieland”) as Zuckerberg and Justin Timberlake, who plays Facebook’s Founding President, Sean Parker.

And sorry, JT fans. According to The Baltimore Sun, expect to spot just Eisenberg on campus.

Timberlake will not film any scenes at Hopkins.According to a university press release, the movie will shoot on campus Monday and Tuesday. Shooting at two residence halls will take place between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. both days. Shooting in academic areas — the Keyser and Wyman quadrangles — will take place after 10 p.m.

The best chance to see action: Monday, when filming will be held during daylight hours at the Wyman Quad, the lower quad. Hopkins has never doubled for Harvard before. On film, that is.The Baltimore Sun reports that “Button” was almost filmed in Baltimore, but we lost out to New Orleans because of Louisiana’s aggressive film-production incentive program.

Bill Doyle, the location manager for both films, said, “I told [film commissioner] Jack Gerbes I would make up for ‘Benjamin Button’ some day. I don’t think a two-day shoot makes up for that, but it’s a start.”

If you happen to see some of the filming around campus, send us the details and — better yet — photos. JORDAN BARTEL, B

  1. The Baltimore Sun reports that “Button” was almost filmed in Baltimore, but we lost out to New Orleans because of Louisiana’s aggressive film-production incentive program

    ----snip----

We lost that movie (and plenty of others) because Baltimore is run by a bunch of greedy, corrupt morons that slashed the budget for film production incentives to almost nothing. Just ask Barry Levinson - he won't even film here anymore.
