Len Bias after being drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1986 {thanks, AP}
ESPN is in the midst of its “30 for 30″ documentary series, and a former Terp is the subject of tonight’s film. “Without Bias” looks at the life, death and impact of Len Bias, a University of Maryland basketball star who died after using cocaine in a Maryland dorm room. Bias passed away only 48 hours after being selected No. 2 in the 1986 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
Baltimore Sun television critic David Zurawik writes the Kirk Fraser film “feels more like a long magazine piece than a documentary film.” Read more of Z’s review here. “Without Bias” premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
