Shopping tales and strategies

I’m planning to do my holiday shopping next week because I hate crowds. Shopping in general is a chore, too.
But millions of people brave Black Friday sales and mall congestion because they need that one thing, or they find shopping to be an exhilarating competition, or they’re crazy. Perhaps all three.
Do you have particular holiday shopping strategies you pursue? Do you have shopping tales to tell? We want to know. Or, actually, freelancer Kristy MacKaben wants to know for an upcoming story.

i try to find as many coupons as possible for as many stores that i'll be hitting up that have sales.

My plans are to go to Wall-Mart! And spend a MAX of $25 a person! Its not the gift...its the thought!
