From today’s b, the paper

‘Quantum of Solace’
Bond is back! For those who were quite shaken and stirred (sorry, couldn’t resist) by 2006’s “Casino Royale,” the latest flick takes place right after “Casino” left off, with Bond (Daniel Craig) seeking revenge for the death of his lover. I hate the movie cliche “This time … it’s personal,” but it’s apt in this case. Plus, there’s a character named Strawberry Fields. Really. {JORDAN BARTEL, B}

Soul Men {thanks, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer}
Soul Men {thanks, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer}

From today’s b, the paper

‘Soul Men’

“Soul Men” had me at Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson. Isaac Hayes ain’t bad either. Former singing duo (Mac and Jackson) reunite after not speaking for 20 years. Warms my heart. There are bowties, their “MUTHASHIP” car and dance moves you won’t wanna miss. The late Mac’s also the voice of Zuba in the sequel to “Madagascar” which opens Friday, same day as “Soul Men.” {Alisia Chapman, b} Read the rest of this entry »

‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’
However you feel about Kevin Smith and his movies — shut up, “Mallrats” was great! — this movie is causing a stir. Some theaters won’t even mention the word “Porno” in its advertisements. Seriously, people? Hopefully, Jason Lee will make his usual cameo. He certainly has the porn ’stache ready. Opens Friday. {MARISSA RICHARDSON, B}

Check out these haunted attractions to get you in the Halloween spirit.

Bennett’s Curse
Any haunted attraction that has a “trailer” on its Web site means serious business. BC includes a Sanctuary of Insanity and Dominion of Darkness, which leads one to believe all is not well at Castle Bennett — just as it should be. Runs through Nov. 1. $20-$30. 7000 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover. bennettscurse.com. {Jordan Bartel, b}

Orioles vs. Blue Jays: The last stands

From today’s b, the paper

1. Orioles vs. Blue Jays
Another losing baseball season in Baltimore comes to a close this weekend, but the talented young Orioles had plenty of bright spots this year. Let them know you’re still behind them. Even Ramon Hernandez. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Camden Yards. {MATT VENSEL, B}

1. ‘True Blood’
I’m not one of those people who harbor a crush on sexy vampires, but HBO’s new series might make me a convert. Created by Alan Ball (“Six Feet Under”), the show follows a group of vampires living among us somewhat peacefully in New Orleans thanks to a synthetic blood drink. Fun! Need more convincing? The main character is named Sookie Stackhouse. Premieres 9 p.m. Sunday. {JORDAN BARTEL, B}
