I am speechless. Kanye West just finished up his set at Virgin Fest a few minutes ago. I hate to speak in hyperbole, but that was probably the greatest musical performance I’ve ever witnessed firsthand. Lil’ Wayne won’t be getting a Christmas card from the Black Keys this year. As I mentioned early, Lil’ Wayne was 40 minutes late for his performance today and the Black Keys were the ones who suffered.

If you haven’t noticed by my blog posts these past couple days, people piss me off. Especially douchebags. Well during the long wait before Lil’ Weezy finally arrived on stage — any guesses as to what held him up? — it was a perfect storm for douchebaggery as a crowd more suited for an Abercrombie ad waited for Weezy. Not that I didn’t fit in with my cargo shorts and Birkenstocks, but my hair didn’t have sick flow as I chilled my bros, if you know what I’m saying.

It may have taken him a little while, but Lil’ Wayne just delivered one of the best performances at this year’s Virgin Fest — with a little help from a friend: Kanye West. After a slow start to his set this afternoon, the Weezy Show got into full swing after Lil’ Wayne played several hits from his new CD, “The Carter III,” with everything coming to a fantastic climax as his hit single “Lollipop” started to blare over the speakers. But as the song started to reach the verse, Lil’ Wayne yelled “Remix!” and Kanye West — signature backpack, white glasses and all — rushed out onto the stage to spit his verse from his remix collaboration with Lil’ Wayne.

The crowd let out a high pitch shrill once they realized Kanye had taken the stage and quickly surged forward to get closer to the scene. Kanye was only on stage for one song, Lil’ Wayne’s last, but it set the tone for his performance later tonight. Read the rest of this entry »
