We’re taking you inside the minds (it’s scary in there) of your b staff. Nope, it’s not just one person who brings headlines like “The Porn Identity,” “Giant Letdown,” “The Dork Knight” and “No Average Joe.” And, there was “Douchebag! 56 ways to tell if you are one.”

We’re sharing with you the headlines that don’t make the cut.And be warned — if you’re offended easily, do me a favor and don’t read these. The list will almost always include headline attempts that are politically incorrect, horrible tries at humor and ridiculous puns.

Here are the ones we didn’t use today:

10. Obamarama

9. Yo’ mama loves Obama

8. Barackin’ in a free world

7. Barackin’ the nation

6. Whoabama

5. Rolling Barack

4. Barack itch (You can laugh. You know it’s funny)

3. Obama drama

2. Baracked

1. He will Barack you

From today’s b, the paper

“Obamerika.”

The one-word headline from Croatian newspaper Slobodna Salmacija sums up foreign response to Barack Obama’s election to our country’s highest office. But it could very well have been a headline on our own soil.

Obamamania has reached a fever pitch. For the past few weeks, America has been clamoring for anything and everything Obama. We put the craziness into perspective for all you Barackstars.

The Obama Family
The Obama Family

The world is watching for an all important decision to be made by the President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama. Everyone wants to know where the pair will decide to send their daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, to school come January.

This decision is mentioned in the same vein as picking the President’s cabinet. Why? It’s a consequential decision if elected to two terms, Malia would be finishing her high school career in the spring of 2017 a few months after her father leaves office. Sasha would be finishing her ninth grade year at the same time.

Can We Get Through Thanksgiving and Christmas First?

A day after the presidential election a friend remarked to me, get ready for all the out of town people to fly in. I didn’t even need to ask for a clarification, I already knew exactly what she was talking about. She was referring to next January’s presidential inauguration. Weeks earlier friends of mine had scoped out hotels both inside and outside of the city. Many hotel rooms were already booked no doubt by the various politicos from either the Democratic or Republican parties who had money down that their candidate would prevail.

The President-Elect {ABC News}
The President-Elect {ABC News}

Yesterday President-elect Barack Obama resigned from his position as the junior Senator from the state of Illinois. It’s a resignation which will take effect this Sunday. It’s not an unexpected move Obama would have eventually had to resign in order to assume the office of President. It is however a move which didn’t have to happen right now. Obama had until January 20th of next year, the day he is to be sworn in as President to give up his seat in the United States Senate. Note John F. Kennedy the last U.S. Senator to be elected President didn’t resign until the December following his election. Obama leaving now analysts say is because he won’t return to the Senate before becoming President.  Perhaps it’ll be an early move of delegating responsibility to another leader. The best leaders sometimes make room for others to lead alongside them. No one knows who will take his place, but you better believe there has already been some jockeying for that Senate seat.

The Afro-American Newspaper
The Afro-American Newspaper

A week ago Wednesday it was pretty hard to find a copy of any newspaper from The Baltimore Sun to The Washington Post to The New York Times. The reason being, everyone wanted a piece of history, and everyone wanted something that when they looked back on the historic election of Barack Obama to the office of United States President, would prompt their own memories of history.

So What Happens Next?

Obama’s Victory {ABC News}
Obama’s Victory {ABC News}

So what happens next? That’s the question people are asking in terms of what President-elect Barack Obama will do as he prepares to head to the White House as the next leader of this nation. The world is watching for any early signs of how the soon to be President, his Vice President Joe Biden and other members of his team, will help him to govern. From who he selects for various White House appointments to policy decisions every move is certain to be heavily scrutinized. It’s not just because of his place in history as the first African-American president, but because of his promise. His promise and potential as a leader, and his promise to America to bring about change. Of course I’m curious to see how things will go in Washington, but also up 95 here in Baltimore. So, I’m asking what happens next in terms of slots and early voting? That freaky CNN hologram, author Crichton dies and more

From today’s b, the paper

One result is already in: The weirdest image of the election night was Jessica Yellin and will.i.am appearing via hologram on CNN.

If you watched the cable-news channel Tuesday, you may have seen correspondent Yellin (above) chatting with Wolf Blitzer — well, a version of her.

Yellin was in Chicago for the Obama rally, but she was talking to Blitzer as a holographic projection (an idea that’s very “Star Trek,” by the way). On screen, it looked as though she was standing 10 feet away from Blitzer, but she was not. A flickering, life-size version of Yellin is standing near Blitzer.

Obama’s Victory {ABC News}
Obama’s Victory {ABC News}

I write this piece on the eve of my beautiful grandmother’s birthday. My grandmother, who tomorrow-God Willing- will turn 77 years young, still walks the streets of Harlem on her daily outings as vigorously as she did the day she migrated to the Big Apple from her hometown of Goldsboro, North Carolina more that 50 years ago. I thought of her as I watched Senator Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. accept his victory as the 44th President of these United Sates of America last night around the hour of 11:00.  Addressing this nation with his new world order at task, he spoke of a woman named Ann Nixon Cooper; a 106 year old former homemaker and socialite from Atlanta who for the first time in her life was able to cast her vote for an African-American nominee. For more than a century on this earth, this extraordinary woman has witnessed America evolve before her eyes. I wonder if Mrs. Nixon Cooper or my grandmother ever thought, in their wildest dreams, that they would see a black man being prepared to take the helm of this country. I think of my maternal grandmother who passed way in 2004, the same year that Barack Obama was just making his mark in the national political arena by giving maybe the most important speech of his career at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. I think of my mother, as all she could say was “Oh My Goodness,” in between her sobs of joy as she watched the nation erupt in jubilee on her television. I think of my father, who was an award-winning journalist at the Village Voice during the 1980’s, when young black people were being killed at an alarming rate by a bigoted NYPD and the devastating crack epidemic. I think of my grandfather, who fell limp across his bed crying when he received the news that Malcolm X was killed at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City.
