Shoppers at a Hamilton-Lauraville community yard sale last weekend {Brian Krista, b}
Shoppers at a Hamilton-Lauraville community yard sale last weekend {Brian Krista, b}

Rummaging through a stranger’s unwanted goods. It sounds so unseemly compared with snuggling up with a latte in front of a laptop.

Yet there’s often no better place to find a great deal than a yard sale, tag sale, estate sale, garage sale, moving sale — whatever you want to call it.

“I like instant gratification,” says Hamilton resident Elbereth Chahalis, 26. “I think a lot of people are passionate shoppers. Especially with the economy the way it is, you have to really want the item these days to talk yourself into buying it.”

Yard sales deliver that thrill-of-the-hunt that comes from picking up an item with your hands and deciding it’s a must-have. And with the growing emphasis on environmental awareness, recycling and reducing one’s carbon footprint, “yard sailing” proves a “green” way to accessorize, decorate or even fill your closet on the cheap. It offers a chance to get out and put your shopping skills to the test.

The Baltimore Rich Girl aka Jenna B. More

Which is better when you live somewhere in the Baltimore metro area to be rich or to be wealthy? Take it from a leader amongst Baltimore Rich Girls it’s better to be rich, much better. When you hear the word rich used to describe someone you may instantly have negative thoughts. You may think materialism, self-centeredness, or superficiality. But what about that which you don’t see? What about the transformation from everyday person to a diva or divo? No, it’s not about a person consumed with themselves. It’s more about a person who has developed self-confidence, is self-assured, and shows that they have one key word swagga. Those who carry themselves well know just what it takes to have the proper appearance, but they carry themselves with dignity, because they’re proud of who they are.  Get insights into what makes one rich and remember if not’s what a person has, but it’s who they are. Learn that style is very personal but it’s also one’s signature identifier, and get that lesson from Baltimore’s Rich Girl and the belle behind Baltimore Rich Girls.

Question Mark
Question Mark

Gwen Stefani once sang if she were a “Rich Girl” she’d “have all the money in the world.”

So what else do rich girls aspire to have. Is it all just material possessions or is there more?

We think you might want to find out.

So what are questions you have for the beauty and the brains behind “Baltimore Rich Girls.”

Check out their blog and come back here to post your questions below or send them our way at bchrisnelson@gmail.com.

Project Payless

Catching up on some fashion blogs, I stumbled across this: Christian Siriano has teamed with Payless for a fall line of shoes and bags.

I enjoy bargain shoes, but I also want quality shoes. It’s been my experience that you get what you pay for at Payless, but I think that’s to be expected. So, I’m having mixed emotions. While these styles are a really nice addition for Payless, I need to see the final product to make a final judgement. What do you think? Is it too good to be true, or should he be persuing other ventures?

If only…

If I could go shopping anywhere–money and location being no object–I would definitely head to Italy for some shoe-shopping. Then maybe stop over in Tokyo to check out the street fashions. (The cycle of America’s Next Top Model in Japan really interested me in this.) And of course, Paris: the birthplace of Hermes.

If you could go anywhere–no holds barred!–where would you go? What would you buy?

Chau, with two of her biggest fans {thanks, Annie Chau}

From today’s b, the paper
