the boy who sees
through sound
8-9 p.m. {DISCOVERY HEALTH}
Aka: the boy I’m astonished by, considering he had retinal cancer but uses echolocation to get around. Totally awesome.

the closer
9-10 p.m. {TNT}
Guest star Jennifer Coolidge (yup, Stifler’s mom) will break down and reveal just how Jason Biggs is still getting roles. Yeah, Brenda is that good of an interrogator.

the mole

It’s the season finale, for all you six who watched this year.

Olympic Opening Ceremony - blinded by the light

Hey guys. Let me start off by saying I love the Olympics. Always have, always will.

And tonight I spend 4 hours (yes, really) watching the entire Opening Ceremony, which kind of redefined extravagant. It was ridiculously bright (energy consumption? meh.) and inventive. And, at times, kind of weird.

First look: ‘Real Vice Cops Uncut’

From today’s b, the paper

Series debut:
real vice cops uncut
10-11 tonight, Spike

THE LOWDOWN: Two episodes start things off, with officers in Orlando, Fla., and Memphis, Tenn., tracking everything illicit. First, look for a steroids lab raid (just in time for the Olympics!) and cops uncovering weapons at a drug dealer’s house. Next, the cops move on to pot and cocaine.
WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH: You don’t just get to see officers physically taking down baddies. You also see the stressful raid plans. Plus, we can’t help but chuckle at the double entendre of the title.
DON’T MISS: The Memphis team busting a drug-dealing pimp who kind of looks like Lil Wayne.
SURPRISING: Producer Associated Television International also crafted a documentary on world poverty and the 2007 World Magic Awards. So “Vice Cops” kind of falls somewhere in the middle.

Do you think American TV censors too much compared to other countries?

From today’s b, the paper

so you think you can dance
8-10 p.m. {WBFF-15} FOX
The final four dance up a storm in part one of a two-part finale. I don’t watch this show, but I’m rooting for Twitch Boss. How could you not with a name like that?

project runway
9-10 p.m. {BRAVO}
Bravo does its NBC-owned-channel-mandated-Olympics tie-in as the designers whip up something sports-themed. Speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno slows it down to guest judge.

man vs. wild
10-11 p.m. {DISCOVERY}
It’s the Season 3 opener and Bear is dropped into Baja, Mexico, to tackle bee stings and rattlesnakes. Scarier: Dodging those kids selling Chiclets.

If this couple can have their first dance to Young MC’s “Bust a Move”, then why shouldn’t I have mine to “Baby Got Back”?

beach in Hawaii
beach in Hawaii

This look familiar? I know, it looks like any beach in Hawaii, but to the trained and obsessive eye you might recognize this shore on Oahu from one of the biggest TV shows right now, “Lost”. That’s right, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, even the late Charlie Pace (R.I.P) have walked on this sand.

My mom and aunt, huge “Lost” fans just like me, recently spent a few weeks in Hawaii. Imagine my surprise when she comes back from her vacation and shows me these pictures. Hawaii’s beaches are all public, so if you’re lucky enough to stumble upon small parking lot and walk through some wooded areas, you’ll find yourself smack dab on the beach set.

First look: ‘Luke’s Parental Advisory’

August 4, 2008 at 8:00 am by Jordan Bartel
Posted in TV, b the paper, entertainment, music, news | 2 Comments »

For today’s b, the paper

WHAT: “Luke’s Parental Advisory”
WHEN: 10:30 p.m. Monday, VH1
THE LOWDOWN: You probably know Luther “Luke Campbell” from raunchy 90s rap group 2 Live Crew. Yup, they of “Me So Horny” fame. Now he’s got one of those “my semi-famous family is kind of quirky” celebreality shows, a la Gene Simmons.
WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH: Campbell now produces adult movies. I know, I know, quite the shocker. But the show also follows planning his wedding (he and lawyer wife Kristin married last month) and dealing with this two teenage children. Also we like how Luther Jr. sports serious braces and even more serious bling.
DON’T MISS: The episode in which Campbell gives his son the “birds and the bees” lecture. Couldn’t he have just showed him 2 Live Crew’s video pantheon?
SURPRISING: Campbell can still be dirty, but he has a softer side and expects his children to be kind of straight-laced. Oh, the irony.

From today’s b, the paper

teen choice awards
8-10 p.m. {WBFF-15} FOX
Unless you’re a 15-year-old girl, we doubt you’ll be tuning in for The Jonas Brothers. But with Miley Cyrus as host, there’s a good chance she’ll have some kind of controversial, wrapped-in-towel moment.

american gladiators
8-10 p.m. {WBAL-21} NBC
The male and female winners are crowned. Getting a Gladiator nickname — totally worth all the spandex wearing.

new york goes to hollywood
10-10:30 p.m. {VH1}
It’s 14 minutes and ticking for “Flavor of Love’s” most inexplicable breakout star.
