What to watch tonight

by Marissa Richardson | July 3, 2008 at 6:00 am

From today’s b, the paper

national lampoon’s animal house
8-10 p.m. {AMC}
Someone should have told me that college wasn’t really like this. All those togas wasted.

csi: crime scene investigation
9-10 p.m. {WJZ-23}CBS
You know you’ve watched too many episodes of CSI when the opened-up dead bodies and reenactments of bullets entering skulls don’t bother you anymore.

supper club with tom bergeron
10-11 p.m. {GREEN}
A classy dinner party and “Hollywood Squares” host Tom Bergeron, two things I thought would never be in the same sentence.

What’s the fewest number of things could you live with?

by Alisia Chapman | July 2, 2008 at 9:13 pm

Chucking your stuff isn’t a new concept. Plenty of people have purged in a major way to start a new life or embrace a new sense of freedom. But in an economy on a ticket south, it’s interesting to think about. It sounds good in theory, but just how low on the scale of owning stuff could you go?

I’m talkin’ personal stuff that is just yours and no one else uses.  There are challenges out there to slim to 100 things. I might be able to do that if I put myself in the right environment.

First things off my list:

1. Iron

2. Vaccuum

3. Bowling ball

4. Office desk

5. Serendipity DVD that I watched practically everyday for six months when I didn’t have TV

Things I’d have a hard time letting go:

what to watch tonight

by Jordan Bartel | July 2, 2008 at 1:58 pm

comic-con preview ’08
8:30-9:30 p.m. {G4}
I’m not comic book dork-inclined, but those who are *cough b Art Director Tim Wong cough* assure me this is all sorts of important. In his words, “Yay!”

baby borrowers
9-10 p.m {WBAL-21} NBC
A sign the whole baby thing isn’t working out: Two of the “moms” are already handing their “kids” off to their own parents so they can work outside the home.

pulp fiction
9-11:30 p.m. {VH1}
Drinking game: Take a shot whenever the F-word is bleeped out of this edited version. You’ll be plastered in 10 minutes.

All of b. Why not take all of b?

by b | July 2, 2008 at 8:00 am

The grand experiment continues. The entirety of b, the paper, available without a schlep to the bright orange box.

If you like this, say so in the comments. We’re only going to keep doing this if people want it.

Free beer and wine

by Lori Barrett | July 2, 2008 at 7:58 am

I don’t have many details on this event, but it came across on the Downtown Partnership’s e-newsletter yesterday. If you’re in the neighborhood, it may be worth it to stop by:

What is the best way to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday?

Starbucks to downsize

by Lori Barrett | July 2, 2008 at 5:59 am

Maybe it’s all those lattes and frappuccinos we’re sacrificing during the non-recession. Or maybe a store on every corner really is too many. (Who knew?) Whatever the reason, Starbucks will be closing 600 low-performing locations over the next year.
